Jolecia Flournory is a senior in the College of Arts Sciences. She’s a cute, bright, small town, Christian girl who enjoys the simple pleasures in life. She is studying Science, Technology, and Society and hopes one day that she might be a contestant on Wheel of Fortune. She is a proud member of NSP (“T Phi T”!), an “Access Science” fellow, a Science, Technology, and Society Undergraduate Advisory Board member, a LEDA (Leadership Enterprise for a Diverse America) Penn rep, treasurer of 4A, and is producing 4A’s fall show, “Flyin’ West”. She is happy to serve on the board of The Vision this year as the brilliant, insightful, and stunningly beautiful freelance manager.

Barbara Shaibu
Barbara Shaibu is currently a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences. She is majoring in Philosophy, Politics, & Economics. Emanuel Bryant
Hailing from Weldon, North Carolina, Emanuel is a senior in the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a dual concentration in Marketing and Legal Studies. As the Marketing Director of The Vision, he focuses his efforts on increasing the awareness, brand equity, and readership of the vision using all forms of media. In addition to working with the vision, Emanuel is also the President of the New Spirit of Penn Gospel Choir and the Co-Manager of Hill College House’s B & T Café. Marvin Harris
Marvin Harris is a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences, majoring in architecture and minoring in urban studies. From a young age, he has had an eye for design and hopes to add his creative touch to The Vision while also working with publicity management to help increase awareness of the publication on campus. Elsewhere on campus Marvin is involved with Ase Academy, Black Wharton Undergraduate Association, and The Little Black Book, another student-run publication in which he also does design. He can’t wait to work with The Vision and help raise its status as the premier African American publication on campus!

Adwoa Sey
Adwoa Sey is a College sophomore majoring in Visual Studies and minoring in History and Fine Arts. She is an international student from Ghana, West Africa, and spends her time dreaming of home and watching House reruns. She doesn’t write much herself, but she loves to read political and historical essays and has a soft spot for Time Magazine. Adwoa is really excited to be the Web Designer for The Vision, and is looking forward to making this blog as amazing visually as it is in substance!

Petal Samuel
Hails originally from Brooklyn, New York and is a senior at Penn, double-majoring in Africana Studies and English. She is involved otherwise on campus as President of The Inspiration, the Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Program, the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship, Penn Humanities Forum, ASE Saturday Academy, Onyx Honor Society, and Sphinx Senior Honor Society. Her true love is creative writing, and she hopes to have her work published in the future.

Elizabeth Mensah
Elizabeth Asantewah Mensah, affectionately known as “Sante” by close friends, is a sophomore in the Huntsman Program in International Studies and Business. A lifelong journal keeper, this humble and serene lady hopes her passion for writing will lead her to achieve proficiency in various realms of communication. She proudly declares her Ghanaian descent upon inquiry, even though she was definitely born and raised in the Pennsylvania boondocks! Her other campus activities include the New Spirit of Penn gospel choir, Microfinance Club, and Rotaract Philly.
Mimi Owusu
My name is Mimi Owusu and I am a junior in the College, majoring in Health and Societies with a minor in Africana Studies. I was raised in Hillsdale, a small town in Michigan, but I am a Bronx girl at heart. As one of the staff writers at The Vision, I am here to educate folks about health care in the black community. When I am not writing, you can find me studying in Van Pelt, dancing with African Rhythms, or hanging with my APO bros!

Malcolm Evans
Originally from New York, Malcolm is currently a senior in Wharton concentrating in Finance and Management, with a minor in Psychology. On campus he’s active in several other organizations, including the Black Wharton Undergraduate Association (BWUA) where he’s responsible for maintaining and developing relationships with BWUA’s corporate sponsors. He is also a member of both the Sphinx Senior Honor Society and the Onyx Honor Society. Outside of the classroom, Malcolm is heavily interested in entrepreneurship and in particular, would like to use his entrepreneurial passion as a vehicle to impact social change. Malcolm is extremely excited to be a part of the Vision as a staff writer and looks forward to writing about a diverse range of events, particularly within the economic sector. Lexi White
I am a freshman in the College of Arts and Sciences from North Kingstown, Rhode Island. With aspirations of attending law school, I intend to pursue International Relations and Political Science as an undergraduate here at Penn. Aside from journalistic writing, some of my hobbies and interests include writing and performing spoken-word poetry, playing basketball, singing, and listening to live music of all kinds. I have a deeply rooted passion for words and their unlimited capacity to promote social justice and change. I look forward to contributing to “The Vision” with this vision in mind.
